While everyone is getting their sleds ready for summer, digital has a website before Black Friday. The company approached us in the summer, a couple of months before Black Friday, the season of high demand. We had a clear task: to get the website up and running and to create a promotion strategy so as not to miss a single client during the hot season.

01Development of commercial pages

We went from the general to the specific. First we emphasized general and high-frequency queries: "goods from Europe" and "shoes from Europe."

The next step was to work on narrower queries that were related to specific brands — Dyson, Adidas, Zara and others. We suggested creating separate landing pages for popular stores.

And also add sections for large categories: "children's shoes" and "clothing for sports", etc. This helped users navigate the site more easily and find the right product categories faster. Conversion rates also increased.

Background: problems requiring urgent intervention

Demica's site was created on a self-written system, where everything was written from scratch without the use of templates or platforms. This resulted in a lot of technical errors that prevented the project from reaching the Top. Therefore, after a couple months of work, we conducted a technical audit. We checked 65 key parameters.

Our fixes
  1. We adjusted the robots.txt file, added blockers for temporary pages.
  2. Added canonical tags for all pages.
  3. Fixed broken links in sitemap.xml, added missing pages.
  4. Found duplicate home pages with different URLs (e.g. index.php) and set up 301 redirects.
  5. Fixed HTML and CSS bugs, including an issue with multiple <h1> tags on the homepage.
  6. Added Schema.org and OpenGraph micropartitioning to the home and internal pages.
  7. We changed the structure of URLs, replaced underscores with hyphens and made them more logical.
  8. Added a link to the sitemap in the robots.txt file.
  9. Optimized images, set up caching, and fixed CSS and JS issues.
  10. Added alt tags to all images.

Results

These steps helped fix the problems that were affecting indexing and ranking. Everything is connected here - if a site is properly indexed, search engines can find its pages and show users relevant queries. This increases traffic and helps you to be at the top positions in search. The higher the site is in the results, the more chances that visitors will click on it and use the company's services.
